Marcia Johnson has background in P.G. County Schools

Marcia Johnson replaced the now retired Karen Hunt as Director of School Counseling Services on July 5. Johnson, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, was selected by a panel of administrators, counselors, parents and students and now oversees the counseling department's course registration and student guidance services.

Before coming to Blair, Johnson served as the guidance department chair at Northwestern High School in Prince George's County for three years. She made the switch to Blair because she "wanted a change" from the 2,600-student Northwestern. Johnson is also a Blair alumnus, Class of 1988.

SGA President Barun Aryal, who served on the panel that selected Johnson, was very impressed by her record. "Ms. Johnson was able to fully utilize her scarce resources in P.G. County and it's amazing to think of what she'll be able to do with all that we have Blair," he said.

Overall, Johnson is optimistic and looking forward to working at Blair, and she expects that "we're going to do great things in the future."
