Prom is right around the corner, and if you are a girl then you are inevitably stressing about every detail leading up to prom. SCO wants to make your prom experience more enjoyable by lessening the aspects of prom you have to worry about. If you are interested in getting prom hairstyle ideas then keep reading.

Braided Headband

Here are some great prom hairstyles.  Photo courtesy of Grace Wilson.

A braided headband is a nice way to keep hair out of your face as you dance the night away. To achieve this look, take a section of hair from behind each ear (it can be as thin or as thick as you want) and braid it straight down. Tie each braid with a small elastic, take each braid to the opposite side of year head so it looks like a headband. You can either curl or straighten the hair left down to add your own touch. Another version of this hairstyle is to twist the section of hair instead of braiding it. Another way to make a braided headband is to french or dutch braid the front section of hair. You can use this video for reference to the second method.

Braided Back

This look is very similar to the braided headband. Instead of taking a section of hair behind each ear, take one from front of your hairline on each side of your head and braid it back. Secure both braids together on the back of the head. You can add a bow, pretty clip, or fancy pins to spice up the look and secure the braids even more. Similar to the look above, you can switch the braids out for twists for comparably interesting hair.

Low Bun

An elegant hairstyle often put to use for prom is a secure low bun. This style looks great and efficiently keeps hair out of your face. You can take a few stray hairs or baby hairs out of the bun and curl them to help frame your face. There are many methods to create low bun hairstyles. If you need any help figuring it out, here is a video giving instructions on how to do a basic low bun.

Bouncy Curls

The classic prom look is long voluminous, bouncy curls. This hairstyle looks best on long hair. To achieve it, wrap sections of hair around a two to three inch barrel curling iron. Do this to your whole head of hair and finish of with hairspray to lock the curls into place. You can use this video to see how it is done.

Sleek Pony

A good way to completely keep your hair out of your face is to put your hair back in a sleek ponytail. Though this is not a typical prom hairstyle, it's an interesting way to add some edge to your look. Use a brush to get all the hairs in place and tie it off with a tight elastic. Take one strand of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around to disguise the elastic. Finish with hairspray everywhere to make sure everything stays in place. You can also add some dark makeup and bold jewelry to complete the edgy prom look.

There are plenty of other hairstyles to try out for prom. If you do not like any of these ideas, try browsing through YouTube or pinterest for other styles. Whatever you chose, remember to have fun with it and good luck!
