Blair beats B-CC 10-0, improving record to 2-0

On April 8th, Blair's softball team defeated Bethesda-Chevy Chase (B-CC) High School in their home opener, 10-0. Blair's defense on the field as well as their offense cinched the win against B-CC.

Highlights in the game included the pitching performance of junior Emma Simson, who had a perfect earned run average of 0.00 in her first two starts. Simson pitched a two-hitter along with five strike outs in five innings.

Seniors Stephanie Cooney and Juliana Stevenson also contributed to Blair's win. Cooney hit a home run to left field in the bottom of the second inning. Shortstop Stevenson hit a triple to center field in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Blair's display of tough defense prevented B-CC from scoring. Junior Lily Hamburger caught a fly ball in right field hit by B-CC's Laura Bond.

The team's current record is 2-0. Head coach Louis Hoelman insists that Blair's victory over B-CC came as a result of teamwork.

After beating Wootton High School, ranked 8th in the area by the Montgomery Journal, 7-4 on March 21, Hoelman says he is positive about the season. "This is a really good start for us," he says. "Our goal is to improve in every game and every single practice. We're prepared to beat the best."
