FEB. 13, NELSON H. KOBREN MEMORIAL GYMNASIUM -

The girls' junior varsity basketball team lost their fifteenth consecutive game, 74-26, to the Gaithersburg Trojans on Feb. 13. The Blazers were dominated in every aspect of the contest and showed the emotional wear and tear of a frustrating, 2-15 season.

Blair was never close in the game, trailing 18-5 at the end of the first quarter. Matters only got worse as the game progressed. Gaithersburg used the full-court press to perfection and the Blazers turned the ball over constantly, resulting in effortless Trojan baskets. Blair was helpless against an athletically superior Gaithersburg team that had racked up a 46-12 lead by the half.

The Blazers seemed both uninspired and fatigued in a game where they carried just three substitutes. The team's lineup was missing a significant number of players from the original roster; among them were four guards: Devon Madison, Jessica Hallberlin, Krista Byrd, and Sarah Kenney.

Despite the crushing defeat the Blazers received valiant efforts from sophomore co-captain Monique Eldridge with eight points and freshman guard Christina Hymes with seven. Freshman guard Helen Denbow, who came on strong at the end of the year, added six points.

Blair will finish the season on Feb. 17 at Wootton.
