For the fall 2015 season, the Washington Post All-Met sports staff chose Blair seniors Jesse Griff-McMahon and Jimmy McMillian for the first team All-Met and second team All-Met respectively. Griff-McMahon and McMillian are both starters for Blair's Boys Varsity Soccer Team. Griff-McMahon, a defender, plays center back, and McMillian is a forward.
The Washington Post annually chooses teams composed of the top 11 players in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area for different high school sports.
All-Met athletes have the privilege of attending honorary events sponsored by The Washington Post. For Griff-McMahon, the first event was a photo shoot in Virginia for all members of the first team. "I drove down to Virginia and took pictures to be featured online and got to meet the other All-Met athletes," Griff-McMahon said. McMillian believes that the All-Met experience was a rewarding way to end his high-school soccer experience. "Since I'm playing college soccer next year, it's nice receiving recognition for all my hard work in high school.”
According to McMillian this is also the first time in a while that Blair has had two All-Met athletes in one sport. "Coach Haigh said that it's been a long time since we've had two All-Met from Varsity Soccer, or from any sport for that matter,” he said.
