OCTOBER 15, NELSON H. KOBREN MEMORIAL GYMNASIUM-

The Blazers regained their form after losing to Sherwood High School on Friday, October 12 to beat Walter Johnson High School today in two sets with scores of 15-10 and 15-3. Since this was a makeup match, the teams played best out of three rather than best out of five.

Good communication and team play allowed the Blazers to dominate for nearly the entire match, interrupted briefly in the first set when Walter Johnson went on a 6-1 run. Blair had major offensive contributions from sophomore Carey Bartlett, sophomore Simone Viger, and senior Tracy Lin.

Many of sophomore Rebecca Cho's serves led to Blair points as well. In the second set, 13 of her serves in a row brought the game from three to two with Walter Johnson leading all the way to a Blazer victory. "Last year [on JV], Rebecca just played to have fun but now she's a little more serious," said Coach Jamie Franck, who coached JV girls' volleyball last season.

Junior Jessica Chang was out of tonight's game because of a minor knee injury.

This win brought the Blazers record up to 5-4, including a controversial loss to Magruder High School. They have already significantly improved over last year's 3-11 record.
