Water main break forces school closure

School closes over weekend to all staff and students

Staff and students were not allowed into Blair on Saturday January 12 and Sunday January 13 due to a water main leak near the gym that required building service personnel to shut off all the water in the school.

Sports practices and a visiting church service were canceled because of the leak.

The school was previously closed during the weekend of Saturday November 3 because of a similar break in the SAC.

Building Service Manager James Brown blames the leaks to either poor material in making the pipes or poor workmanship when putting the school together. In either circumstance, Brown says the leaks should not happen in a school only four years old. These water problems should not have occurred until "twenty years from now."

Brown suspects that there are other leaks that have not been found and students and staff should expect more weekend closings in the future.
