Snow days, sniper attacks contribute to delay
Yearbooks were delayed one week and seniors did not receive their yearbooks until after graduation rehearsal.
The delay was a result of snow days and time lost during the sniper attacks when sports were suspended and the yearbook staff was unable to leave the room to meet with coaches and take photographs, according to yearbook sponsor Mr. Lee.
The snow storms and sniper attacks caused Blair, as well as other schools, to miss some deadlines, which in turn delayed Josten's, the company that prints Blair's yearbooks.
According to Lee, due to High School Assessments, the earliest yearbooks could have been distributed to seniors was Tuesday, May 27, making the yearbooks three days late.
To accommodate the yearbook delay, Principal Phillip Gainous allowed the seniors to return to the building after graduation rehearsal on Friday, May 30 and remain at Blair until the end of the day to sign yearbooks.
Lee feels that the yearbook staff handled the lost time very well, saying they "stepped it up" and had to deal with a lot more pressure.
All other students will receive yearbooks on Tuesday, June 3.
