Ben Meiselman is a senior in the Communication Arts Program at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. He enjoys playing sports, especially baseball. Ben is seventeen years old, born May 16, 1985. He has played the trumpet since fourth grade when he began at Pine Crest Elementary School. He continues to play in the jazz band at Blair with his original teacher, Mr. Kurt Lucas. Ben is an active member of Habonim Dror, a Jewish labor Zionist youth movement.

Cougars win on last pitch

The baseball team lost 5-4 to Quince Orchard High School (QO). This was its second loss in a row by just one run, evening Blair's record at 3-3. The Blazers led from the top of the first until the bottom of the seventh. Blair pitching and defense proved itself yet again today in six innings of great baseball. Junior starter Grant Staking was far from dominant, but he made quality pitches and had sound fielders behind him.

But international sympathy has run dry with President George W. Bush's attempted extension of the war to Iraq, and lack of international support is just one of many reasons why the U.S. should not initiate a war.

Blair's truncated field hockey season ended with a loss in the first round of the playoffs to Whitman High School, 4-1. The Code Blue status in MCPS from sniper attacks allowed Blair to play only seven games, the last of which on Oct 1 was also a loss to Whitman, leaving them with an unresolved season record of 2-4-1.
