Tom, a senior, has to take urine tests twice a week. He has to call his officer when he arrives at school, leaves for work and goes to sleep at night. He must attend countless drug education classes and be home by 9:30 p.m. every evening. He is in constant contact with an officer because he is on probation"but at least he's not in jail.

Cambios en la escuela nocturna El cambio de hora en que empiezan las clases de la escuela nocturna fue aprobada por la Junta de Educación. Anteriormente las clases empezaban a las 5:55 p.m. hasta las 9:35 p.m. Ahora inician a las 4:30 y terminan a las 8:00 p.m. Esta decisión tomó efecto este semestre y refuerza la iniciative implementada este año para aumentar el rigor académico y de esa manera contratar maestros certificados para enseñar en la escuela nocturna en Blair. Esta iniciativa añade más contenido a los currículos. Además de mejorar el currículo, ahora hay más atención en otras áreas como la pérdida de crédito y en el aumento de seguridad en la escuela.

Removed from the devastation, students cope with the unknown in aftermath of tsunami

Immediately after the Dec. 26 tsunamis crashed across the shores of 12 countries, people began counting the dead. Twenty-four hours after the first waves struck land, the death toll was slated at 22,000. Two days later, that number had more than tripled. 80,000. 119,000. 130,000. The number of dead and missing currently stands at 286,000 and is still climbing.
