On February 15th, 16th, and 18th, Montgomery Blair held its annual Black History Month showcase, Sankofa. The theme of 2024 focused on Black Resistance and culminated in a collection of poetry, song, and dance.
At the TKPK Presbyterian Church, the Silver Spring/Takoma Park Service unit collaborated with the "Because We Love You" organization to collect food donations and make fresh meals for people in need. The Service Unit is made up of multiple Girl Scout troops eager to help the community. In one day they were able to feed over 100 people and create 300+ kindness cards that were sent with the meals and to group/nursing homes.
Last fall construction started on the creation of a new Takoma Park Library. This project is set to be finished in the fall of 2024.
