Blair's first academic pep rally, coordinated by the Renaissance program, was held last Friday and deemed a success.

Students entered the gym through a red and white balloon arch while the Jazz band played and a cheering crowd of volunteers greeted them. The pep rally consisted of two routines by the Blair poms, and speeches by club head Patricia Anderson, Administrator Linda Wanner, the owner of Jerry's Subs and Pizzas at Four Corners, John Distler.

Wanner spoke in place of Mr. Gainous who was unavailable. Distler spoke encouragingly to the students complementing them on their success and achievement. He then presented the Renaissance program with a gift of $1000 dollars.

Each student who made the honor roll will receive a new ID with a hole punch that allows them a 10 percent discount at Strosnyders (a hardware store in Siler Spring) and at Jerry's. Each student also got a letter of congratulations sent to their parents signed by Mr. Gainous, Anderson, and Wanner.

The purpose of the pep rally was to encourage students to keep congratulate students on a good job and to encourage them to keep their grades up in the second quarter. Each speaker gave their own words of support and praise to the cheering crowd.
