Girls place 1st in distance medley and 5th in 4x800m

DEC. 28, NEW YORK, NEW YORK–

Today, several girls traveled to New York City to compete in the annual Marine Corps Holiday Classic and placed well in the two races in which they competed. The girls' team placed 1st in the distance medley relay and 5th in the 4x800m relay.

The high schools in attendance were from a variety of cities including most of the Mid-Atlantic and North Eastern United States, and only highly competitive teams were invited.

The girls' team consisted of sophomore twins Ashlyn and Halsey Sinclair, along with sophomore Keianna Dixon and senior Tyaisha Jackson. In the distance medley relay, the team had a time of 12:29, ten seconds ahead of the 2nd place team. In the 4x800, the girls had a time of 9:59 and were 19 seconds off of first place.

"These are some of the best teams in the North East, and our girls did well. They did very well," said Coach Carl Lewin after the meet.
