Blazers blow early lead and game to over-matched Cougars

APR 3, NELSON H. KOBREN MEMORIAL GYMNASIUM --

The Blair coed volleyball team lost to the Quince Orchard Cougars tonight, lowering their season record to 4-1.

The Blazers began the game with a strong start, winning the first game, 15-8. However, miserable play in the last two games gave the match to the Cougars as they lost 15-3 in the second game and 15-0 in the last game.

"The excitement from the first game wore us out," Coach John Mott explained. "The passing and the hitting fell apart. We just lost focus."

Before this match, Quince Orchard had handed the Blazers two of their three losses in the last two seasons, according to Mott.

The match ended on a disastrous miscommunication, as the ball fell in the middle of the Blair court without any attempt to hit it by Blair players.

Despite the disappointing loss, Mott feels the team has been successful this season. "So far, we're up and above all expectations," Mott said optimistically. "Until tonight, we've been playing really well this year."

The game was delayed approximately 30 minutes because the Quince Orchard bus arrived late.
