Another classic Christmas song. From its lyrics to the overall tune of it, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” is a generally jolly song that perfectly embodies the Christmas spirit.
- Leslie Odom Jr. - Leslie Odom Jr has the voice of an angel. This cover is absolutely beautiful – all of the covers on his Simply Christmas album are stunning. The beauty of this cover is in its simplicity. His voice is so gorgeous that there is no need for any other moving parts or sounds within the song. This is easily number one.
- Meghan Trainor - Justice for pop Christmas! While it might not always work, it certainly works for Trainor. Trainor's version of this song makes you want to dance and sing along. It feels good and super jolly, so nothing to complain about here!
- Bing Crosby - This is the first version you probably think of when it comes to this song. It sounds like it should be the original version precisely because of this reason, but it’s not. Either way, this song is nostalgic, and its usage of vocal harmonies is gorgeous. Crosby’s “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” is reminiscent of gift shopping, cold walks in the city, holiday lights and decorations. It’s nothing exceptional, but it doesn’t need to be.
- Dean Martin - Unfortunately, placing last in this ranking is one of its original performers. Though there is something very comforting about this cover, it’s like aged cheese: sophisticated but not outstanding, and on its own, just kind of bland.
That’s it for this ranking! Come back tomorrow for our final holiday season edition of “Who sang it best?”
