Fair to be held during periods 5A and 5B

The SGA will hold its annual activity fair on Friday, Sept. 15 during periods 5A and 5B. Teachers will bring their classes to the fair during their fifth period class.

This year's fair will be held in the main gym. All fifth period gym classes will be moved outside, and in the event of rain, the fair will be held on Blair Boulevard.

The activity fair is designed for Blazers to speak with representatives of clubs and sign up for teams and activities. A similar event is held every year during freshman orientation, but this year's freshman fair featured only 12 clubs, acording to David Hu, the SGA's Drector of Club Services. "[The school-wide] fair will have a lot more clubs represented," he said.

The upcoming activity fair is sponsored by the SGA, and will be run by Hu, unlike the freshman activity fair, which is a school-sponsored event and co-planned by Hu and several teachers.

Clubs expected to be present at the club fair include Blair's Model UN club, Silver Quill (Blair's literary magazine), InToneNation (Blair's a cappella group) and the Jewish Culture Club, among others. The list of clubs participating in the impending fair will be finalized over the next few days, after the SGA holds a meeting with all of the club sponsors.

Overall, Hu is optimistic about Sept. 15. "I think that the activity fair is a great way for clubs to recruit new members for the upcoming school year," he said.
