Online newspaper in contention for prestigious award
Silver Chips Online was one of seven finalists selected in the National Scholastic Press Association's (NSPA) annual online Pacemaker competition. Of these, three winning online publications will be announced in April during the Spring High School Journalism Convention, which will be held in San Francisco.
Online publications were judged on design, navigation, writing, editing, graphics and interactivity and were reviewed during February and March. Finalists were announced earlier tonight.
"The Rampage," an online publication from Rockville High School, and "The A-Blast," from Annandale High School in Virginia, were also selected as finalists in the competition. All finalists can be viewed at the NSPA web site.
The NSPA names the Pacemaker its most prestigious award and highest honor for student publications. Silver Chips Online won the Pacemaker in 2004 and 2005.
