Senior awarded scholarship

Senior Elena Chung, the Productions Manager for Silver Chips, was awarded a scholarship for her winning entry in The Washington Post's High-School Writing Seminar Contest.

Chung won for her feature story on undocumented immigrants, which was written during a timed writing test. Entrants attended four writing seminars on Saturdays, where "they had a lot of guest speakers come in and talk to [us]," according to Chung.

Chung will receive $2,500 per year towards her college tuition, provided she selects a journalistic focus.
