On Feb. 6, friends, faculty and family gathered in the conference room in the media center to watch and celebrate six Blair senior athletes signing their national letters of intent. The athletes had committed to the schools earlier in the year but the signing made their commitment official.
The Walter Johnson Wildcats narrowly defeated the girls' varsity soccer team (2-5) in a 2-1 game. Though the Blazers presented a strong defense and made several offensive strikes, they were unable to fight off the domineering Wildcats.
Blair varsity girls' soccer (2-4) lost to the Whitman Vikings (3-0-1) by a score of 3-0. Though the Vikings largely dominated the game, the Blazers put up a good fight with solid defense and many offensive chances.
Playing sports in college can be a huge commitment, but it's really only worth it if students are fully invested in the sport.
Before the game there was the ceremony with the seniors and their parents. After the game was the ceremony with the seniors and their teammates. And in between all these festivities the Blair girls' varsity lacrosse team (7-2) easily beat the Springbrook Blue Devils (3-5) 13-3.
