Low-level threat does not affect school day

Five Montgomery County high schools – Blair, Northwood, Einstein, Wheaton and Kennedy – were targets of a bomb threat reported this morning at 6:40 a.m.

The call to Montgomery County police was a non-specific threat, suggesting that a bomb was planted in one of the five down-county schools, according to Principal Darryl Williams.

MCPS central office and each of the targeted schools were notified of the threat shortly thereafter.

Blair's Educational Facility Officer Dane Onario spearheaded standard safety procedures. "The building was swept inside and out," said Williams.

All five schools did not report any further incidents.

The staff was informed through e-mail during 3rd period; students will receive a letter during seventh period to notify parents of the situation.
