Jazz musician Nat King Cole, like many great black entertainers, was first introduced to music in church. Cole was born Nathaniel Adams Coles on March 17, 1919 in Montgomery, Alabama to Reverend Edward James Coles, Sr. and Perlina Adams Coles.
