The Blair Blazers (7-2-1) lost a hard fought game against the Whitman Vikings (8-2-1) 2-0 on Tuesday night. Both teams remained strong defensively, but Blair struggled to gain momentum in the attacking half.
In the regional semifinal playoff matchup, the Boys' Basketball team (20-3) finished their season with a courageous effort in a 60-48 loss to the Whitman Vikings (19-6).
Blair varsity baseball (7-5) played their third of four games this week and lost to Whitman baseball (11-2) by a final score of 9-3. The Blazers were both mentally and physically tired at the beginning of the game and it showed.
With 12.6 seconds left in the game, the Blazers (12-8) found themselves up by one against the visiting Vikings (11-9), well on their way to win number 13 on the season. Junior co-captain Damar Bess was at the free throw line, and Bess had already scored 10 points in the decisive fourth quarter.
The Blair swim team (1-5) placed third and sixth for the boys' and girls' teams, respectively, in their first post-season competition, Divisionals.
