Throughout the beginning of 2017, many Blazers entered competitions and fairs to showcase their skills in a variety of subjects. A number of them were recognized for their achievements.
Blair's girls varsity volleyball team had a strong season this year, finishing 13-6, similar to last year's record of 13-8-1. Though they were defeated in the first round of the playoffs by Walter Johnson, this season changed the Blazers' lineup orientation so that they were able to play off of each other.
The Blair Blazers (4-0) were able to soundly defeat the Clarksburg Coyotes (1-2) on Monday night. Blair pulled together a strong defense and kept pounding Clarksburg with fast spikes and consistent serves, resulting in 3 sets for the Blazers and a quick match; the scores for the sets were 25-12, 25-16, and 25-16.
The Blair Blazers (2 – 0) secured their second victory of the season against the Walter Johnson Wild Cats (0 – 1). The game extended into five sets as the two teams fought aggressively to hold their own; the scores for the sets were 25-14, 22-25, 25-22, 22-25, and 18-16.
