Players on the team from across the country joined their host families for food and discussion of the seventh season in Thunderbolts history.

Four Blair students and Spanish teacher Dora Gonzalez traveled to El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala from May 25 to May 31. The all expenses-paid trip, sponsored by TACA Airlines, is part of a program developed last year called "TACA te lleva a tus raíces" that is meant to reward high-achieving students of Hispanic descent in the United States. The Blair group was joined by a Spanish teacher and three students from Richard Montgomery High School.


Hysen sworn in as SGA president

Blazers honored at Spring Sports Award Banquet

The Blair Auditorium hosted Blair's anual Spring Sports Awards Banquet, honoring the spring athletes, last night at 7 p.m. Team coaches presented players with awards for Most Valuable Player (MVP), Most Improved (MI), Outstanding Senior (OS) and Coach's Award (CA) awards. Scholar athletes were recognized as well.

Student suspended after incident in parking lot

Senior Louis Weil was suspended Wednesday for driving recklessly in the bus parking lot while buses were leaving school, according to Blair security. Weil was given a 10-day suspension after Security Assistant Everett Campbell saw him executing what he described as "crazy maneuvers" while the last buses were leaving the school's parking lot at around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Biology classes participate in Red Sea expedition correspondence

Sophomore biology students at Blair have recently been corresponding with coral reef researchers aboard a research vessel in the Red Sea as part of an expedition lead by the Living Oceans Foundation. Every day since May 4, the students have submitted a marine biology-related question for the researchers to answer. The expedition, designed to assess the impact of human and ecological change on coral development, will last for six more days.


Blair's It's Academic club competes in Knowledge Master Open

Blair's It's Academic club placed 11th out of 774 teams in the world in the spring 2006 Knowledge Master Open (KMO) competition on April 26. With a score of 1685 out of 2000 points, Blair again fell behind Richard Montgomery High School's team and placed second in the state of Maryland.
