For the 2017-2018 school year, Montgomery County Public School's (MCPS) Department of Facilities Management added four new portables and changed two computer labs into classrooms. The expansion occurred after school administration ran a simulation that revealed Blair had more students than space. Construction of the portables began in June 2017 and ended in July, several weeks ahead of schedule.
Throughout the beginning of 2017, many Blazers entered competitions and fairs to showcase their skills in a variety of subjects. A number of them were recognized for their achievements.

The Cups club is a student-run club that works in conjunction with 7 Cups of Tea, an organization that connects trained listeners, therapists and counselors online with people who need to talk to someone. Every Friday during sixth period lunch, the members of Cups club act as student-listeners.
