Civil War names in Takoma Park?

The city of Takoma Park is considering renaming streets that honor Union and Confederate Civil War figures. Grant, Sheridan, Sherman, General Lee and General Jackson avenues were debated on March 4th in a town hall meeting.

This year, Takoma Park established a Youth Council in order to include young voices in city politics. Blair students comprise five out of the nine middle school to high school Youth Council members. Local Blair bands Swan Song and Frailboys headlined a concert at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) building in Takoma Park on Saturday night. The two headliners performed original, creative songs that had the jam-packed crowd reeling late into the night.

Blair alumnus David Andalman finished shooting scenes for his debut feature film "Milkshake" in Takoma Park and Silver Spring last week. The comedy is based on writer and director Andalman's experiences growing up in the 1990s and attending Blair.
