Girls' Softball Dominates in Five Inning Shut Out

Girls' varsity softball (14-3) had a quick and fairly unchallenging win against the Churchill Bulldogs (8-9-1) Monday night. The game was framed by a great defensive and pitching showing from the Blazers. Key fielding errors on the part of the Bulldogs allowed the Blazer offense to zoom past Churchill and close the game, 18-1 Blair.


Blazers Softball Crush Magruder Colonels

On Monday night, Blair's varsity softball team sailed past the Magruder Colonels to secure their spot in the county playoffs. It was a more challenging game for the Blazers as they faced one of the best pitchers they've seen all season.


Varsity softball wins its second consecutive division championship

Richard Montgomery put up a good fight, with their pitcher being one of the toughest the Blazers have faced all season. But in the end Blair's defense helped them come out on top, beating Richard Montgomery 6-4 and securing the division title for the second year in a row.


Girls' Varsity Softball Continues Win Streak

In their fourth win in a row and fastest game of the season, the girls' varsity softball team (5-1) defeated the Damascus Hornet (0-1). The game got off to a slow start but with solid and focused offensive and defensive players, the Blazers managed to score 5 runs in the last inning, with the final score 10-0 Blair.


Softball surges past Clarksburg in grudge match

On May 15 of last year, Blair exited the playoffs with unfinished business after suffering a 7-4 defeat to the Clarksburg Coyotes. Yesterday afternoon was a different story, as Blair (11-0) pulled away early and defeated the Coyotes (5-2) by a score of 11-6.

The varsity softball team (14-2) shut down Watkins Mill (7-7), 10-0, in an effortless Senior Night victory. The Blazers came into the game with enthusiasm, and, despite a slow start, were able to build up a huge lead in the next four innings of play, after which the mercy rule was called.


Softball overtakes Northwest

The Blair softball team (12-1) shut out the Northwest Jaguars (7-5), scoring eight runs in the process as the Jaguars struggled to get on base. With senior co-captain and pitcher Samantha Schweickhardt dominating the mound, Blair clinched the win thanks to consistent hitting and clever base running. While the Jaguars slammed a couple impressive hits into the outfield, Blair's cohesive fielding and communication helped grab a fourth straight win of their near-perfect season.

While Blake managed to keep the ball in play and proved to be Blair's most challenging opponent of the season, the Bengals would eventually fall to the Lady Blazers.

Undefeated girls' varsity softball (6-0) beat both Quince Orchard (5-1) and Walter Johnson (0-6) in a thrilling double-header Monday. The team dominated the scoreboard through both games, just two hours apart, with an aggressive offense and solid infield playing.

The varsity softball team (18-3) defeated the Sherwood Warriors (17-2) in a back-and-forth 8-6 game. The Blazers are the 4A West regional champions, and will compete in the Maryland State Softball Championship semifinals at Bachman Softball Complex on Tuesday, May 24.
